Healing Justice

Warriors of Light™ (WoL) is an organization devoted to returning an experience of innocence, freedom, and vitality to youth of color. WoL empowers and educates youth, their family and community support systems, as well as organizational leaders through healing justice offerings:

  • Public, community, and school based youth workshops

  • Teacher Training

  • Speaking

In support of these offerings, WoL produces and sells empowerment and practice tools.

The Difference.

While other organizations focus on addressing the trauma of youth of color, WoL picks up the conversation where they often leave off: going beyond identifying with trauma to healing racial trauma and returning innocence, freedom, empowerment, and vitality to youth of color.

There is a fine distinction between struggle that brings more struggle and suffering, and struggle that brings liberation. WoL walks this fine line with deep kindness, a bold and confident attitude, and an activism born of self + community reflection and collaboration.

The Acknowledgement.

We recognize that the youth we’re devoted to supporting have a greater context that informs their reality. Consequently, we educate and empower the adults in their lives to develop their internal and external leadership skills.

WoL has a woman of color founder and top leader.

Our Audience

PRIMARY:

Pioneering Youth of Color

Youth of color—primarily of the African diaspora—who are ready to explore dis-identifying with trauma who likely feel a call to leadership (whether known/conscious or unknown/unconscious). They are pioneers who are able to source a deeper sense of knowing and power from within that requires external support to cultivate and unleash.

WoL addresses them directly and offers them tools that clearly come from people of color.

SECONDARY:

1. Family and Community Support Systems

It is the responsibility of parents, family, and community support systems to engage with healing justice practices for both their own development and because of their positional power vis a vis youth of color. WoL take responsibility for this by addressing this audience segment both directly on their own and in conjunction with youth offerings.

2. Organizational Leaders and Teams

Healing Justice work in organizations extends WoL mission to returning an experience of innocence, freedom, and vitality to youth of color in two ways:

  1. By supporting the organizational world to integrate healing justice into their internal and external leadership practices to reap the same benefits as our youth populations do;

  2. By empowering leaders and organizations to model what “beyond trauma” looks and feels like for the youth of color who are paying close attention; and

  3. By becoming a more solid and effective support for the youth they directly influence (in the case of organizations who directly serve youth).

WoL focuses their consulting work primarily with organizations who directly influence and support youth of color, and they engage with select clients who serve other demographics on a case by basis.
